The act of healing is a long and often difficult journey for anyone to undertake. It isn’t a linear process and there isn’t a “one size fits all” option. Most importantly, it rarely includes rainbows, butterflies, and unicorns. The truth is, healing is often very messy. It’s digging up all the crap from dirt that is so dried up and cracked that even a shovel doesn’t seem likely enough to break through the surface. Sometimes it’s allowing yourself to sit in the suck of life. Sometimes it’s working through tough emotions, sorting through deep-rooted core beliefs, understanding what your triggers are, and developing (and implementing) coping skills to aid in your experiences. And despite all the hardships, it’s also finding beauty in your journey. It’s celebrating wins, even the small ones, because the reality is they aren’t so small after all. So, whether you’re on the mountain top, determined and ready to embark on your journey of healing, or you’re in the valley, unsure of where to even begin, I hope you’ll take this first step in growing, learning, healing and becoming your best self. The first step is often the hardest to take, but I promise you don’t have to do it alone.
